Founded in 1840 by the Fireman's Charitable & Benevolent Association. Many of the city's firemen, some killed in the line of duty, are buried here. Also as the Girod street cemetery was starting to deteriorate many Protestant families chose Cypress Grove for their tombs. Tombs of interest include the cast-iron Leeds tomb, with it's grotesque downspouts and the Chinese Soon On Tong Association's tomb complete with grate to burn prayers in. Later the dead's remains would be sent to China for burial. This cemetery has immense wall vaults and has a couple of beautiful live oaks. It is very peaceful and secluded, but unfortunately has been hit hard by vandals and thieves. Located at 120 City Park avenue Hours: 8:00 - 4:00 everyday
