Located in the garden district Lafayette #1 was originally part of the Livaudais plantation and was established as cemetery for the city of Lafayette. Magnolias line the main paths and the walls offer quiet seclusion. Many German and Irish yellow fever victims are buried here and the cemetery is featured in Anne Rice's novels. Lestat's "tomb" and the "family tomb" of the Mayfair witches are located here. This is one of my favorite cemeteries and is directly across the street from Commander's Palace. Be prepared for a crowd of the living!

Located at 1427 6th street
